Akeredolu frees 11 prisoners on Democracy Day

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu on Tuesday granted amnesty to 11 prisoners serving various jail terms to mark this year’s Democracy Day.

The State Commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi, made the disclosure in Akure at a news conference, saying that the prisoners had been duly convicted of various terms of imprisonment, adding that they were freed by the governor in exercise of the power conferred on him by Section 212 (1) (d) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

According to him, the governor has charged the beneficiaries of the special grace and mercy to shun criminalities and embrace a new life of peace and productivity with a view to contributing to the growth of the Nigerian nation.
