The gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in the recently concluded governorship elections in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde who was re-elected at the March 18 2023 governorship election.
In a statement signed by Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and made available to The NewsJournal, Chief Adelabu said the victory in the just concluded election was a call to serve the people of Oyo state diligently. He then urged the good people of Oyo state to go about their normal daily lives, without rancour or ill-feeling. “It is my strong belief that election should not be a do or die affair, as God changes times and seasons, he enthrones and dethrones kings according to his wish. God’s time is the best”.
In his statement, Chief Adelabu further reiterates that election is all about good governance and the zeal to achieve desired socio-economic development that will improve the welfare and prosperity of people. He added that he will continue to make constructive, objective and helpful criticism of government policies and programs that will help make Oyo state the desired Pacesetter state.
“Though Oyo State is not yet where it should be, this is another golden opportunity for the Governor to ensure that he does not disappoint the people by ensuring even development across the State,” Adelabu stated.
While urging the Governor to pay more attention on security, education and job creation, he made his commitment known by stating his intention to join hands with the Governor to achieve the desired people-oriented development for the state.
“The Governor should especially focus on the poor state of security in the state. Equally important is the state of the environment which needs urgent attention. Our schools should be made more conducive for learning while teachers should be encouraged and trained to do more in order to ensure that Oyo State regains its status as a pacesetter state. Also not to be left out is urgent industrialisation of the state and creation of jobs for our teeming unemployed youths”, Adelabu advised.
